A TEENAGER was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being attacked in an incident involving up to six youths.
Durham Police said the 19-year-old remained in hospital following the incident last Thursday - one of two attacks in Annfield Plain, near Stanley, which police believe were linked.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: "The incidents, which are believed to be linked, occurred between 8.30pm and 9pm in Annfield Plain on Thursday.
"The first assault which involved six youths took place close to Railway Street at around 8.30pm.
"A 19-year-old man was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with serious injuries, where he remains.
"A further assault then took place in the foyer of Tesco on Station Road at around 9pm. This incident involved two males, nobody was injured."
