SCHOOLCHILDREN are hoping to encourage dog walkers to pick up after their pets after installing bag dispensers around their town.
Youngsters from Cleves Cross and Broom Cottage Primary Schools in Ferryhill raised concerns about the amount of dog fouling in the community which prompted the school’s ambassadors for community change to install the dispensers.
Dispensers with bags inside have been attached on signposts around the town and it is hoped they will help keep the area clean and tidy.
Glenys Newby, of Approach Too, said: “The Ambassadors have braved the cold to put dog poo bag dispensers in their area. Big thank you to everyone for supporting the initiative and letting the children put up dispensers outside their premises. Together we can make a difference.”
