VISIT Beamish, The Living Museum of the North, this Easter break for an egg-citing day out.

There’ll be plenty to keep visitors of all ages entertained over the Easter holidays, starting with the Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour on Monday, April 8.

Visitors will be bowled over by the trophy, which will be stopping off at the museum for the Monday morning part of a 100-day tour of England and Wales, ahead of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup.

See a fantastic array of steam-powered vehicles during the Great North Steam Fair (Thursday, April 11 – Sunday, April 14). Always a popular event, this four-day celebration of all things steam will see an amazing collection of steam locomotives, motor vehicles, and road steam vehicles, converge on the museum. Hop on board one of our visiting trams, visit a model tramway exhibition and take a short steam train ride hauled by River Irt and Katie, the first 15-inch gauge locomotives to operate at the museum!

Hop along to the museum over the Easter weekend, for the award-winning Easter Fun at Beamish event (Friday, April 19 – Monday, April 22).

Visit the school in the 1900s Pit Village to take part in Easter crafts. Try your hand at jarping, at Pockerley Old Hall - a traditional custom, like playing conkers with hard-boiled eggs. Learn about Easter during the time of rationing, and make your own carrot lolly at the 1940s Farm. Take part in egg rolling in the 1900s Town park on Easter Sunday – will your egg roll the furthest?

Throughout the school holidays (Saturday, April 6 – Monday, April 22), visitors can pick up an Easter trail booklet and embark on an exciting hunt for the eggs that have been hidden around the museum – will you manage to find them all?
