A PIE-MAKING company which make its award-winning food delights just minutes from where Bob Mortimer grew up have offered the famous Teesside comic a box full of them – for free.
Mortimer jokingly Tweeted “justifies a weekend pie” after the Middlesbrough-born slapstick genius retweeted a post from Bafta, announcing he’d been shortlisted for an award.
Mortimer and his friend and fellow comedian Paul Whitehouse were shortlisted for their show, Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing.
Pie Jackers was launched by career switch couple Julie and Neil Fletcher three years ago – and they make their hugely popular artisan pies from their base just 50 yards from where Mortimer grew up on Tollesby Road in Middlesbrough.
“Bob can have as many pies as he wants," said Julie.
