A TOWN Mayor's charity evening raised more than £2,000 for local causes.

Ferryhill Town Mayor, Councillor Dave Farry hosted the dinner on March 22 at the Masonic Hall in Ferryhill.

Tickets for the event were sold out and guests travelled from as far as Coventry to attend.

Cllr Farry said: "It was a fantastic night and very successful raising more than £2,000 for my local chosen charities, Little Treasures Autism Support and the WI.

"It was quite an emotional evening for me, we invited my old school teachers and some friends from school and it was brilliant to see everyone.

"The night was excellent and I'd like to thank everyone for attending, Vivienne at the Masonic Hall and her staff for the excellent service and Paul Whitfield and his band Rio for the brilliant entertainment.

"I hope everyone had a great evening and would like to say a special thanks to those who have supported me in my Mayoral Year, including local businesses, family and friends, fellow Councillors and staff who donated prizes for the raffle."
