FIREFIGHTERS are appealing for information following a spate of devastating moorland fires.

Cleveland Fire Brigade spent several hours tackling a moors blaze across almost one square kilometre in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Grass and gorse was ablaze on Grinkle Moor, not far from Loftus, east Cleveland.

A brigade spokesperson said: "Over the last few days we've had several grass fires across the area. These are very dangerous & can spread/change direction very quickly, it's important that such incidents are reported quickly so action can be taken.
