A FATHER was knocked unconscious while in Mcdonalds with his three-year-old daughter.
The incident happened at about 5pm on Friday, and involved an altercation between two men in the McDonalds on Northumberland Street in Newcastle.
One of the men, who was accompanied by his three-year-old daughter, is reported to have then turned his back on the man.
However, the man he was arguing with is alleged to have punched him from behind and knocked him unconscious.
The person responsible is reported to have fled the scene with his two young children while McDonalds staff comforted the victim’s daughter.
It is believed he may then have got on the number 63 bus heading towards the Chapel House area of Newcastle.
Emergency services attended and the 36-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police are now appealing for information.
Enquiries to identify the offender is ongoing but police have now released a picture of a man they need to trace, which can be viewed on the Northern Echo’s website.
He was in the McDonalds at the time of the assault and so may have information that will assist the police investigation.
The man, or anyone who knows his identity, is encouraged to contact police on 101.
