A POPULAR springtime family event which was due to be held this weekend has been cancelled.
East Durham College's Houghall campus, near Durham, had planned to open its doors to the public on Sunday for its annual Lambing Sunday event, when visitors are invited to see newborn lambs and if they are lucky see ewes give birth in front of them.
However, this college has announced it has been forced to call off the event.
Posting on its website, a spokesperson said: "We very much regret having to do this, but the car parking fields at Houghall are so waterlogged, we cannot let any cars into the fields, and there are no alternative parking arrangements."
