THE team behind the UK’s biggest live action show is holding an open call audition for volunteers to join its cast and crew.

Successful candidates will get to be part of Kynren, a live action show staged against the backdrop of Auckland Castle in Bishop Auckland.

Featuring a 1,000-strong cast and a 7.5-acre stage, the show retells 2,000 years of English history.

Chris Kemp, casting coordinator, said: “We’re looking to recruit great people of all ages, from five upwards, with a range of abilities and interests to join us on-stage or off-stage for this year’s show which is set to be the biggest and most spectacular ever.”

The Northern Echo:

There are roles available for dancers, actors, people who can do onstage combat, making costumes and props, doing first aid, doing the show’s technical effects and looking after the horses which are used in the production.

Mr Kemp added: “There are so many reasons to join Kynren: make new friends, spend time with old ones, add new skills to your CV, find the love of your life, escape from a dull job or improve your fitness are just a few of the benefits we hear from people over and over again.”

This year, the shows run on Saturdays from June 29 to September 14.

The open audition takes place on Wednesday, March 13 at Flatts Farm, Toronto, near Bishop Auckland, and starts at 6pm.
