SHADOW foreign secretary Emily Thornberry will be speaking in the region to mark International Women’s Day.
She is the guest speaker at an event at Redhills, in Durham, at 7pm on Friday, March 8.
The event also includes the showing of a new film, which was made to document the creation of a women’s banner for last year’s Durham Miners’ Gala.
Laura Daly, chair of the Women’s Banner Group, said: “The Women’s Banner Group are thrilled to welcome Emily Thornberry as a guest speaker.
“Emily has been a great supporter of the group and as an exceptional advocate for women’s rights we are proud to have her as a special guest at this celebration.”
The film, Of Whole Heart Cometh Hope, follows the group from the start of the project to gala day.
The event is free, but donations can be made, which will be split between the Redhills Appeal and the WBG.
