THE funeral of 22-year-old Luke Jobson was held on Thursday.

Luke went missing in Yarm, Teesside, last month and his body was recovered from the River Tees two days later by police.

A vigil was attended by hundreds of people at the site on the riverside where dozens of ribbons and flowers had been left in honour of Luke.

Thursday's private funeral took place at St Patrick’s Church in Thornaby, which was followed by his burial at Thornaby Cemetery.

In the days after his death, parents Lisa Jobson and Stuart Banks paid an emotional tribute to their “caring son.”

Ms Jobson said: “Luke was very loving – he was a mummy’s boy, a bit more open with me.

“He used to confide in me and ask me what I thought of things – he would listen to me.” Before he had been found, hundreds of people from across the region joined together, and took part in an unofficial search near to where Mr Jobson had been last seen.

Ms Jobson said: “The whole search showed the love for Luke.”

At the time of the incident, police arrested six teenagers, but all have been released pending further investigation.
