TWO people were trapped after an accident between a taxi and a car.
The accident happened on Hopetown Lane, Darlington, on Thursday morning.
An eyewitness said: "It happened at the junction where Widdowfield Street meets Hopetown Lane.
"I can see three car doors leant up against a lamppost, which I presume firefighters removed earlier."
The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident, but has now reopened.
A Durham Police spokeswoman said: "We were called at 6.55am this morning to a two vehicle collision on Widdowfield Street, at the junction with Hopetown Lane in Darlington.
"It involved a black Toyota Avensis and a silver Skoda Octavia taxi.
"Paramedics and the fire service also attended the scene as two people were trapped in the vehicles."
