A MOTHER repeatedly punched her former in-law in a snooker club as part of an long-running family feud.

Jamie Louise Scothern, 31, was captured on CCTV shouting and pointing at a woman, with the pair both engaging in a heated argument in the Lumley Snooker and Social Club, Great Lumley, Chester-le-Street.

Scothern, of Quin Square in South Hetton, Durham, pleaded guilty to assault by beating after going over to the injured party at around 11.30pm on July 14 and attacking the woman in her chair. The woman sustained bruising and swelling to her face.

Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday that Scothern had lost three jobs while on probation after anonymous calls were made to tell employers the 31-year-old was subject to court proceedings.

Robin Ford, mitigating, said Scothern was “trying to get on with her life” and had moved away from the village to start afresh.

She was ordered to pay £200 in compensation to the injured woman.
