A DOG has been rescued after falling down a cliff.

Diesel the husky got into difficulty on Tuesday morning at Crimdon Dene, near a caravan park between Peterlee and Hartlepool.

Fire and rescue crews based at Peterlee, Seaham, Newton Aycliffe and Bishop Auckland were sent out at around 10.25pm and used specialist equipment to get him back to safety.

A spokesman for County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received the call at 10.25am in the morning of a report of a dog which had fallen half way down the cliff at Crimdon Dene, near to the caravan park.

“The rescue was carried out by Peterlee crew using a short extension ladder and animal rescue bag. The dog was uninjured and reunited with its owners.”
