POLICE have confirmed that two people were taken to hospital after becoming unwell on board a bus.

Cleveland Police and The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) were called to the Arriva bus on Guisborough High Street, North Yorkshire, on Friday afternoon (February 8).

Several police vehicles attended the incident, with around half a dozen officers boarding the bus.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "Just after 3.30pm on Friday, February 8 police attended Westgate in Guisborough after receiving concerns for the wellbeing of a female bus passenger.

"On arrival, officers gave assistance to the 41-year-old woman and she - and a male companion who subsequently became unwell - was taken to James Cook University Hospital by ambulance."
