A MAN armed with a hammer and screwdriver has made off with a large amount of cash after raiding a supermarket.
A lone cashier was working at around 6.30am on Sunday, January 27, when the robbery took place.
Cleveland Police have confirmed that no one was injured during the incident, however officers have released CCTV images from inside the Sainsbury’s store, off Ennis Square, Dormanstown, Middlesbrough.
A spokeswoman for the force added: “A male suspect described as being aged in his mid to late thirties, around 5ft 9ins tall and of slim build entered the store carrying a hammer and screwdriver and threatened those inside before stealing a large amount of cash and making off from the scene.
“He was wearing a luminous yellow Huntsman three-quarter length coat, a blue hooded top with the hood up and dark trousers.”
