BODY FOUND: Police are investigating after a woman's body was found in a car park at at St James' Park
THE body of a woman, who is thought to have been sleeping rough, has been found near Newcastle United's football stadium.
At 2.36am on Friday, police received a report that a body had been found in a car park at St James’ Park.
Emergency services attended and the body of a woman – who is believed to have been sleeping rough – was found.
An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the death and a formal identification process is ongoing.
Northumbria police are appealing for information.
