FOUR people have been arrested after a man suffered life-threatening injuries in an alleged attack outside a pub.
At about 6.20pm on Thursday police received a report that a man had been found injured outside The Chesterfield pub on Elswick Road in Newcastle.
"Emergency services attended and the 46-year-old man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remains in a critical but stable condition," said Northumbria Police.
"A police investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances around how the man was injured but officers believe he was assaulted.
"Four people have been arrested in connection with the incident and officers remain at the scene this evening."
