POLICE are investigating a burglary at a hair salon - the second time it has been targeted in as many months.

The incident happened at the Lox of Love salon, in Aycliffe Business Park, Newton Aycliffe,     sometime between 5pm on February 2 and noon on February 3.

A police spokeswoman said: "The suspect's broke into the property by using an unknown object to smash the window. The offenders then entered the building and searched the premises before taking stock and making off in and unknown direction."

Salon owner, Victoria Cartwright, took to the salon's Facebook page to appeal for information. She said it was the second time the salon had been burgled but vowed to be open again today, Tuesday.

She wrote: "It’s with a very heavy heart that I’m asking for any information in relation to our SECOND break-in within as many months! "Our salon, my baby(!), has been burgled again...

"We work so hard to keep our small business going, and we love what we do. It’s so disheartening that people think it’s ok to take what they haven’t earned or paid for!

"Rest assured though ladies, we WILL be open as normal on Tuesday! They won’t beat us!!"

People expressed their disgust at the incident in messages to the salon.

One person wrote: "Absolutely disgusting! Such awful news (again) Keep fighting ladies. Show them you shan’t be beaten."

Another added: "Oh no way, this is awful news and my heart goes out to you all as the work and care you put into the salon and your customers is out of this world. Words can’t express what I feel towards the heartless thugs that have done this to you again."

Someone else wrote: "Awww Victoria, this is absolutely awful, you & your team work so hard, and it's so sad to see the impact these criminals are having. xxx"
