A HOUSE which was being used to grow cannabis had been so dangerously wired to bypass the electricity meter it was left uninhabitable, police have said.
Officers from Spennymoor neighbourhood beat team discovered a cannabis grow in a property in the town on Friday, February 1.
Inside they found a number of cannabis plants, nursery plants and a large amount of dried cannabis which was subsequently seized.
A spokesperson for Spennymoor police said: "A great result which wouldn’t have been possible without the help of concerned members of the public.
"The electricity in the property was bypassed and there was unsafe wiring throughout, this combined with the damage caused by the set-up has left the house uninhabitable."
Durham Constabulary urged anyone with information about suspicious or drug activity in their area to contact them on 101 or report it anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800-555111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org
