AN investigation has been launched into the cause of an industrial estate fire.
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service was called to the blaze on Armstrong Road, on the North East Industrial Estate, in Peterlee, at 6.27pm on Saturday.
A spokesperson for the service said when crews arrived a unit was well alight.
Eight engines from Peterlee, Durham, Wheatley Hill and Sedgefield attended to extinguish the fire.
Hose reels, breathing apparatus and an aerial ladder platform from Durham were used.
Firefighters left the scene at 10.38pm and two visiting checks have since been made.
An investigation, understood to be joint with Durham Police, is now underway to establish the cause.
The spokesperson added part of the unit was structurally sound but a degree of damage had been caused.
