POLICE are appealing for information after a man sustained a serious head injury in Sacriston, County Durham.
A 73-year-old man was injured at the traffic lights on Plawsworth Road sometime between 5.30 and 5.45pm on Wednesday.
A Durham Police spokeswoman said: “We are unclear about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
"We believe that the man has got out of a white taxi at the traffic lights and fell over while doing so where he has sustained a head injury.
“Police were not called to the incident at the time.
“We understand that the taxi driver waited with the elderly man while an ambulance arrived.
"We would ask this taxi driver to come forward as well as any witnesses to what happened.”
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting reference 338 of January 30.
