ALLEGATIONS of fraud centring on an NHS unit in County Durham are being investigated by police.
Durham Police has confirmed an investigation which dates back several years is underway at the NHS North of England Commissioning Support premises in Durham City.
The unit, in John Snow House, has also confirmed a matter relating to an employee is subject to an internal investigation.
A spokesman for Durham Police said: “We can confirm that, late last year, Durham Constabulary received allegations of fraud centring on the NHS North of England Commissioning Support premises in Durham.
"An investigation, which dates back several years, is therefore being carried out by officers from the force’s Economic Crime Unit.
"No arrests have been made and police inquiries are continuing.”
A spokesperson for the unit said: “A matter relating to an employee is currently subject to an internal investigation by North of England Commissioning Support.
"We are unable to comment further until this investigation is concluded.”
