PARENTS grieving the loss of a child or baby can seek some solace by stepping out among seasonal snowdrops in a popular park setting.

Sedgefield’s Hardwick Park is the venue for Child Bereavement UK’s Snowdrop Walk, on Sunday February 24, from 12-noon to 3pm.

The annual event is a day to remember babies and children who have died, plus those youngsters who are bereaved each year.

Participants will be able to plant a snowdrop in memory of someone special while also enjoying the walk in the park.

Snowdrops will be available to buy and a Book of Remembrance donated by a bereaved family, will be available to sign.

Young visitors can also try their hand at a range of art and craft activities in the site’s visitor centre.

Child Bereavement UK supports families when a baby or child of any age dies, or is dying, as well as when a child is facing bereavement.

The charity also trains professionals, such as teachers and nurses, helping them to better understand and meet the needs of grieving families.

Emma Riley, Child Beareavement UK’s senior events fundraiser, said: “Our annual Snowdrop Walk is a very special event for the many people who attend.

“It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery while also helping Child Bereavement UK support bereaved families to rebuild their lives.”

Entrance to the event is free, but donations for the snowdrops will be gratefully received on the day.
