TWO cyclists have been injured in a hit and run on a country road near Northallerton.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the two cyclists were hit by a car as they were travelling along Lowfield Lane from Kirkby Fleetham in the direction of Great Langton.

As they approached the South Lowfield Farm area they were knocked off their bikes by a car which then left the scene.

One of the riders was seriously hurt and the other sustained slight injuries.

It happened on Sunday, January 13, at around 1.25pm.

The vehicle is described as a dark-coloured hatchback.

Police are appealing for witnesses, dashcam footage or anyone who the vehicle in the moments leading up to the crash.

They also want to hear from anyone who has noticed recent damage to a vehicle matching the description, possibly on the driver’s side, or anyone who has overheard someone talking about the accident.
