A MAN has appeared in court following a suspected stabbing outside a pub.
Police confirmed that three people were taken to hospital following an alleged altercation at the Coach and Horses pub on Durham Road, Birtley, near Chester-le-Street, on Wednesday night.
A 16-year-old who suffered serious injuries remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Daniel Orrick, 26, of Hertford, Allerdene, Gateshead, appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court charged with two counts of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent and one count of threatening a person with a bladed article.
He was remanded in police custody to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on February 15.
A 42-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident has since been released under investigation.
