A MAN arrested following a suspected stabbing outside a pub has been charged.
Police confirmed that three people were taken to hospital following an alleged altercation at the Coach and Horses pub on Durham Road, Birtley, near Chester-le-Street, on Wednesday night.
A 16-year-old who suffered serious injuries remains in hospital in a stable condition.
A 42-year-old man and a 26-year-old man were also taken to hospital, but were released and questioned by police.
Daniel Orrick, 26, of Hertford, Allerdene, has now been charged with two counts of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent and one count of threatening a person with a bladed article.
He was remanded in police custody to appear before South Tyneside Magistrates Court this morning.
A 42-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident has since been released under investigation.
Inquiries into the incident are continuing today and any witnesses are still encouraged to contact police on 101 quoting log 968 160119.
