TWO teenagers have been jailed after they threatened a pregnant woman at knifepoint during a burglary last year.
The males, aged 16 and 17, both pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary with intent when they appeared at York Crown Court.
The teenagers entered a flat in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, where they threatened a pregnant woman with a bread knife, stole cash, a safe and a purse on October 27, 2018.
The pair were sentenced to three years, eight months at a young offenders’ institution.
Detective constable Rachael Hughes of North Yorkshire Police said: “This was a horrific knifepoint robbery against a pregnant woman.
“What makes this incident even more alarming is the age of the defendants, the youngest of which is just 16.
“Fortunately though, they were very quickly tracked down within hours of the incident after they were recognised by a neighbourhood policing office and detained."
She said victims and residents can be rest assured that the offenders will be off the streets for some time.
