A 44-YEAR-old woman was killed when she was involved in a collision with two cars.

The accident happened on the A66 adjacent to Middlesbrough Road in Thornaby at around 7.15am on Friday morning.

"The collision involved a woman aged in her forties who was a pedestrian, and two vehicles, a blue Volkswagen Touran and a white Mini Cooper," say Cleveland Police.

"The woman has been named as 44-year-old Sonia Kidd from the Middlesbrough area.

"Her family have been informed of her death and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.

"Officers would appeal to anyone who may have seen Sonia, who is described as a white woman, around 5ft 2ins tall, of slight build with pink hair and blue eyes in the Middlesbrough area between 2am and 7am this morning."

Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact the Collision Unit within the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 5909.
