THIS litter lout was caught on video dumping a van load of rubbish on a residential street - and a council is asking for help in tracking him down.

The not-so-festive fly tipper was caught on camera between Christmas and New Year dumping an armchair, double bed base, wood, toys and other household items in Grove Hill, Middlesbrough.

The incident was picked up by CCTV at 5.18pm on Thursday, December 27, when a white flat-bed truck was seen pulling up on Daleville Close and tipping its whole load before driving off.

There are at least two people - a driver and passenger - in the van but the vehicle's headlights have prevented the registration number being visible on camera.

Councillor Denise Rooney, Middlesbrough Council’s Executive Member for Environment and Commercial Services, said: “The individuals responsible for this blatant fly-tipping clearly think they can break the law and get away with it.

“Fly-tipping is unsightly and dangerous anti-social behaviour, costly to clear up and utterly indefensible and we are committed to stamping it out.

“It has an adverse impact on the residents who back onto this location, as well as causing wider economic and environmental issues.

“We are determined to catch those responsible – I would urge anyone who has information on the vehicle or people involved to contact us in confidence, and help us to stamp out this blight on the town.”

  • Anyone with information about this incident or the van involved is asked to contact Middlesbrough Council’s Environmental Enforcement Team on 01642 726001.
