EMERGENCY services remained at the scene of a crash which closed the A66 near Barnard Castle.
Durham Police were called out just after 5.40am on Monday to a report of a collision involving a lorry on the westbound carriageway at Bowes.
A spokesperson said it was believed the lorry lost control while travelling along the road and collided with the central reservation.
It is believed there were no injuries.
One lane of the eastbound carriageway was closed to allow for the recovery of the vehicle.
The westbound carriageway was still closed.
