MORNING raids at North-East drugs farms have recovered about 150 cannabis plants.

Police officers carried out raids in the South Moor area of Stanley at 8.45am on Friday morning.

Officers executed two search warrants at the properties in School Terrace and Fern Avenue.

They forced their way into both addresses and uncovered cannabis farms, with a total of 150 plants as well as equipment used in production of the drug.

Both properties were empty and no arrests were made at the time of the raids.

Police investigations are continuing and several lines of enquiry are being pursued.

PC Gary Smith said: “We have shut down two cannabis farms and will continue to take action against those criminals supplying drugs in our communities.

“Cannabis farms fund organised crime and when we receive information from the community about suspicious activity we will act to disrupt the criminal gangs responsible.”

Anyone with information about the supply of drugs in the area can report it to the local neighbourhood policing team on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
