A SPECIAL occasion deserves a special venue, and people celebrating in County Durham can find it in the picturesque hamlet of Headlam, in Lower Teesdale.

Award-winning Headlam Hall Hotel is an attractive, Jacobean, country house, set in its own rolling farmland, boasting four-acres of beautiful walled garden – ideal for private functions.

Weddings at Headlam are a speciality, with the exclusive use of the self-contained Coach House which can accommodate up to 120 guests. Your party would have full use of the Ballroom, the Stable Lounge and Bar, and a number of bedrooms.

The team at Headlam are passionate about making sure that your wedding day is special, so they will only book larger, traditional weddings in The Coach House on Fridays and Saturdays. That way, you can be sure of receiving exclusive, personal attention to ensure that everything is as perfect as it can be.

Smaller ‘dinner party’ style wedding celebrations, for up to 50 guests, can be accommodated from Monday to Thursday in either the Stable Lounge or Coach House ballroom.

The Old Hall offers a public restaurant, lounge, and a private dining room. The elegant Drawing Room can accommodate up to 40 guests, and is ideal for smaller, special occasion lunches and evening meals, to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, or corporate functions.

It also houses a relaxing and luxurious spa for that bit of extra pampering. Membership or special offers are available all year.

Thomas Robinson, director, said: “As a family-owned business, we have always tried to take a unique approach to hosting weddings and events. In 2016, we carried out a complete restoration of the property which was all about combining authenticity with contemporary country design, and an area like our Coach House very much reflects its former use as stables and barns, as well as providing that bit of glamour to make it a great space for celebrations.”

You don’t have to be booking a private function to enjoy Headlam’s warm hospitality. Regular special events have proved very popular, such as the Jazz & Soul Supper - an evening of live music in the restaurant, with a meal from the A la Carte menu.

If you know your beers, the Cask Ale & Street Food Night on January 18, might wet your whistle. Enjoy a relaxed evening with a selection of local ales, a choice of ‘street food’, and live entertainment. There is also a full bar available, and the chance to make an occasion of it by booking a room with breakfast and full use of the luxurious spa facilities.

For those who prefer an active break, the hotel’s Golf Package offers a two-night stay, with four rounds of golf, dinner, bed and breakfast, and full use of the spa.

Whatever your reason for visiting Headlam Hall, you can be assured of a great welcome and a great experience throughout your stay.
