TICKETS for a concert by pop superstar Jess Glynne at Darlington’s Northern Echo Arena go on sale on Friday – and thanks to Darlington Mowden Park, we have two pairs of golden circle tickets to give away.

The gig, on Friday, August 2, was announced exclusively by The Northern Echo on Monday.

Thousands of fans are expected to flock to the arena for the concert, the latest in a series of large scale events at the venue.

Glynne first rose to prominence in 2014 after featuring on UK number one singles Rather Be by Clean Bandit and Route 94’s My Love. She quickly built up her own fan base with what is described as “her instantly familiar, rousing vocal styling and stamp on pop, soul, R&B and house.”

Her debut album I Cry When I Laugh debuted at number one in the UK albums chart in 2015 and brought about international acclaim.

It was followed by second album Always In Between, which also shot to number one and featured the hits I’ll Be There and All I Am. The popular performer is currently the only female solo artist to have had seven number one hits in the UK singles chart.

News of the another big-name concert for Darlington has been welcomed by people across the region, including Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen, who said: “This is another big name choosing the Tees Valley and helping to put us on the map. We’ve been working closely with Mowden Park and other venues to bring events to the region, attracting visitors to our towns, who will spend money in our shops, bars and restaurants. Next year is shaping up to be quite a year for the Tees Valley with Take That, the Great North City Games and now Jess Glynne all coming to our region.”
