HIGHLY-sentimental jewellery belonging to the late wife of a 76-year-old man has been reported stolen during a home burglary.

Suspects who broke into the property left the home "ransacked", stealing irreplaceable items, including a gold band wedding ring and gold necklaces.

A ladies and men's silver Tissot watch from 1964 was also taken from the house.

Police believe the burglary happened between 4.45pm and 11.15pm on Wednesday, December 12, on Marykirk Road, in Thornaby, Stockton.

The targeted address is close to the A174 and Thornaby Industrial Estate, with officers appealing to anyone who may have driven in the area on the afternoon or evening of December 12 to contact them.

Drivers with dashcam footage of the area or any CCTV avaliable can also be passed on to investigating officers as part of their inquiries.

Similarly, anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area or anyone with any information on the incident or offered the items for the sale is asked to contact Cleveland Police's Detective Constable Craig Douglas, of the Stockton Operational Crime Team.
