POLICE investigating an alleged scam in which a pensioner had money stolen from his bank account as he used a cash machine have arrested a man.
The victim was using the ATM at Barclays Bank, in Market Place, Barnard Castle, on December 5 when the theft occurred.
At the time, Barnard Castle Neighbourhood Inspector Ed Turner described it as 'a shocking incident in which someone has preyed on an elderly man'.
Barnard Castle Police said last night that they had arrested a suspect and released him under investigation.
