THOUSANDS of pounds worth of cannabis plants have been found inside a house.

The farm of more than 100 individual cannabis plants was discovered by police at a property on Thursday night.

Officers believe the plants carry an estimated street value of around £84,000 and one man has been arrested on suspicion of production of class B drugs.

He remained in police custody last night.

The farm was found at an address on Mendip Road, in Billingham, at around 9.30pm on December 13.

Cleveland Police's Inspector Mark Doherty said: “Officers will always act upon information given regarding drugs activity.

"Drugs can blight the lives of local communities and we would always encourage anyone with information to contact us so that we can tackle the problem and remove drugs from the streets of Cleveland.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police via non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111 or crimestoppers-uk.org
