A WOMAN in her 90s fractured her spine in a car crash.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision which saw the woman veer off a carriageway and drive over a roundabout before hitting a barrier on an A66 sliproad on Wednesday.
She was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees where she was treated for several spinal fractures and a fracture to her breastbone.
The woman was driving a silver Honda Jazz westbound on Eaglescliffe’s Durham Lane, towards the roundabout at Elton and the A66 interchange, prior to the collision, which happened at about 4.20pm.
The road was closed for two hours to allow for recovery of the car.
