FIVE people have been arrested after police carried out drug warrants in Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Officers carried out raids at an address on Upton Street, where one man was arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs, and Apsley Street where another four men were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

A quantity of suspected cocaine and a large amount of cash were recovered.

Sergeant Kester Haith said: “We will always act on information passed to us and hope that Saturday’s action will encourage others to come forward with information which can help us take drugs off the streets of Middlesbrough.”

A 33-year-old man has been charged with possession of class A drugs.

He will appear at Teesside Magistrates Court in the new year.

Four other men have been released under investigation.

Anyone with information regarding drugs activity in their area is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
