A DURHAM school has been awarded a prestigious Gold award from Unicef UK for its “deep and thorough” commitment to children’s rights.
Children at St Godric’s RC Primary School, in Framwellgate Moor, celebrated the Rights Respecting Schools Gold Award award, along with members of staff, by wearing gold and taking part in a number of art and sports activities on Friday.
Unicef is the world’s leading organisation working for children and their rights.
The award is granted to schools that show commitment to promoting and realising children’s rights and encouraging adults, children and young people to respect the rights of others in school.
The school has been working with Unicef UK since September 2014. They received their Silver certificate in October 2016.
Headteacher, Catherine Craig said: “This award recognises the commitment of the children and staff at this school to ensuring that children’s rights are met locally, nationally and globally. I am extremely proud of this achievement”.
