GROUPS are being invited to apply for funding to help prevent suicide in men.

Grants of between £1,000 and £5,000 are available to community and voluntary groups across Teesside as part of national drive to cut suicide rates by 10 per cent by 2020-21.

The funding is being made available by the Tees Suicide Prevention Taskforce on behalf of Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton Councils.

Preference will be given to those projects that demonstrate innovative ways of engaging with men, especially those who are most vulnerable or isolated.

Tees suicide prevention coordinator Katie Bannister said: “These grants will help to develop the sort of local projects that really can change lives.”

The closing date for applications is Friday, January 25, with successful applicants notified no later than the end of February 2019.
