A STRETCH of the A66 has been shut due to strong winds.
The road has been closed both ways between the A6 at Kemplay Bank Roundabout and A67 at Bowes.
Police shut the road just after 6pm as a number of lorries have overturned.
Recovery of the vehicles is ongoing.
Durham police said: "Due to high winds, the A66 will be closed to high sided vehicles. There are currently delays due to HGVs being blown over on the Cumbria side."
