A PARANORMAL investigator has launched her second book hoping to show people the supernatural is not a gimmick.

Elaine Kelly from Coundon, in County Durham, has released Spectre Detectors – Uncovering The Truth, to change attitudes towards the paranormal and ensure people investigations are safe if done properly.

She said: “I’ve incorporated the history surrounding the investigation sites because I’ve done a lot of research to see if the activity matches up with real historical facts.

“The paranormal isn’t scary if it’s done right. We want to show people it’s not negative or bad. Communicating with a spirit is just like communicating with someone on the phone.”

The investigator along with her team of paranormal enthusiasts and mediums, has visited hundreds of 'haunted' sites across the North-East and Yorkshire for the last seven years.

She has supposedly heard and caught evidence of spirits on camera and even witnessed a full body apparition at the notorious 30 East Drive house in Wakefield.

Witnesses have claimed the house has seen some of the most violent poltergeist activity in the world and inspired the 2012 horror film When the Lights Went Out.

Mrs Kelly runs paranormal investigation company, Spectre Detectors, alongside her day job. The organisation uses night vision cameras and other equipment to capture evidence of spirits.

Her new book includes stories of how her team met and the buildings they have investigated together including, The Forum Music Centre in Darlington and Durham Masonic Hall.

Her first book Entering The Darkness - A paranormal Quest, also documented some of her favourite investigations.

She included ten investigations which she carried out alongside psychic mediums. She said they often caught spirits on camera and heard voices using a special machine.

Mrs Kelly has already started documenting her latest experiences for a third book where she plans to share a recent investigation at Whitechapel . The 44-year-old believes she came into contact with victims of Jack the Ripper at the site.
