A HOST of celebrities will perform songs, readings and comedy sketches to spread festive cheer in Tyne and Wear next month.

Choirs will also sing traditional songs and carols in the concert at the seventh annual Christmas at the Cathedral Concert, at Newcastle’s St Nicholas Cathedral, in aid of The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

Actress Charlie Hardwick, BBC TV’s Casualty star Chelsea Halfpenny, Maximo Park’s Paul Smith, vocalist Rachel Unthank and comedians Steffen Peddie and Jason Cook are taking part.

A reading will be given by charity patrol and football writer George Caulkin while Billy Mitchell will compere the show on Thursday, December 13.

Producer Ray Laidlaw said: “The lineup has something for everyone from comedy to music and the show is a great way to get you into the festive spirit. It’s a great family night out raises funds for a very worthwhile cause.”
