A FISH and chip shop has been closed following a visit from police and council representatives.
Fry Time, on High Street, in West Cornforth, was investigated following concerns raised by members of the public.
Spennymoor and Ferryhill police said officers and Durham County Council's environmental health team attended.
A spokesperson for the force said: "Following reports from members of the public, local police officers in partnership with Durham County Council’s environmental health team, have attended Fry Time in West Cornforth in order to investigate concerns raised.
"Fry Time will remain closed until all relevant issues have been satisfactorily resolved."
The spokesperson added their thanks to members of the public who had raised concerns.
