Spennymoor manager Jason Ainsley has warned his team that they face a very tough game when they go to FA Cup giantkillers Guiseley today.

The West Yorkshire side are currently 15th in the table, having won three of their eight home league matches this season, but last Sunday they stunned League Two club Cambridge United by 4-3 in the first round of the FA Cup after leading 4-1 at one point.

Moors have found some great form themselves, having lost just once in their last eleven league matches to move into third place a fortnight ago, but they have since dropped to fifth because they haven’t played, and Chester and Kidderminster have overtaken them.

“Without a doubt, this will be a very tough game,” said Ainsley.

“My assistant, Tommy Miller, was at the FA Cup tie on Sunday and he says that Guiseley are a very good and experienced team. I watched the game on TV and I must agree with him.

“But we’ve been to some difficult places already this season – such as Chorley in our last away game – and won, so I don’t think this game throws up any extra challenges.

“I think Guiseley will get stronger as a team over the season, and I expect them to be challenging near the top end of the table. They’ve had some impressive performances this season, but so have we.”

Ainsley will have a full squad to choose from, which gives him a couple of selection headaches, especially after the great win over Chorley last time out.

Midfielder Shane Henry has served his suspension, while defender Jake Hibbs and winger Ryan Hall have both overcome their injuries.

“The lads played well against Chorley, and the subs made a big difference when they came on,” Ainsley pointed out.

“All of the lads have trained well this week, and they are eager to please. I’m going to have some difficult decisions.”

Guiseley are managed by Marcus Bignot, who took over during the summer after they were relegated from the National League.
