A MAN was taken to hospital following a 'serious' crash on the A19 on Thursday morning.
Motorists reported long delays after the A19 was closed northbound following the incident between the A1027 (Norton Interchange) and A689 Coal Lane.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service attended the scene, but were not used to transport the man to hospital.
The road reopened at around 10am.
A spokesperson for the North-East Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 7.30am to reports of a road traffic collision on the northbound carriageway of the A19.
"We dispatched our Hazardous Area Response Team, an ambulance and the air ambulance to treat one patient.
"He was taken by paramedic ambulance to North Tees Hospital."
