ARMED police were called to reports of a man wielding a machete in a Poole.
Police firearms officers were among those to respond to the call, which was received just after 4.15pm on Wednesday afternoon.
A Dorset Police spokesman confirmed: "We were called to reports of a man with a machete in Tatnam Road and then Wimborne Road in Poole.
"Officers, including our armed response officers, attended the scene and carried out a search of the area.
"A 51-year-old local man is assisting officers with their enquiries and an investigation is ongoing into the incident.
"No injuries have been reported."
Paramedics also attended the scene, as a precautionary measure.
Neighbours reported a large police presence in the area.
