I ATTENDED the Remembrance Parade in Middlesbrough on Sunday as a former Royal Marine. What an absolute disgrace it was.
We appeared to hear a new version of the Last Post – either that or someone didn't know it.
Apparently to lay a wreath you had to be accompanied by your family, friends, their friends and all their children.
Veterans were at the back, and I saw nine people push through to stand at the front to lay one wreath. There was no organisation at all.
The only reason there was a march past afterwards was because the veterans, after looking around, remembered where they went last year.
I felt extremely disrespected and will not attend again and, judging by the mutterings, nor will many others.
