THIEVES stole charity collection boxes from a Wilko store during a break-in on Sunday night.
Wilko in Thornaby town centre was targeted in a burglary just after 9.30pm and a number of charity boxes were stolen.
The retailer would not say which charity the boxes belonged to but said: "Wilko confirms there was an incident at the Thornaby store.
"Thankfully, no customers or team members were involved in any way and we are open as usual.
"We are unable to provide any further details at this time as this incident is being investigated by Cleveland Police."
Police said that officers had attended the scene, and that inquiries were ongoing.
